But please explain something to me, because I seem to be a bit stupid… why are you dressing like Bill and why do you have the same haircut? Oh, oooh I get it, I get it. You want to impress him… maybe you could get an autograph and a photo from him. Because, even if you wanted more, it would be almost impossible for you to have an one-night-stand with Bill, since he isn’t gay. But, it doesn’t matter honey. Be ambitious! Be determined!

ok? it’s not like adam’s copying bill’s style. it’s not like bill is the only one in the whole world with that style. they’re just similar.

Bill is probably one of the very few ppl in this world who can pull off that style. And Adam is not included in those few ppl according to moi.

okay! It is very clear that Adam Lambert loves Tokio Hotel so much but Im sorry to tell that our Adam here isnt a copycat or copying your Bill Kaulitz here. Adam has been pulling it off and living his own style even before. Another thing,not because Adam is gay he will flirt with any guy around. He has some high standards, you know. We’re here to clear things up as we know it not to start a fight.
Really? Who cares? Its fine if Adam wants to look like Bill, He’s not hurting anyone. Besides He can dress however he wants! Thats the great thing about this day and age you can be who you want to be. Do you want to take away that freedom from him?

This is so stupid. Honestly Adam is a nice and talented guy, and if his style is similar to Bill’s, whether it be coincidence or inspiration, let it be. If anything, TH’s getting more attention, which is a good thing.

The only thing Bill and Adam have in common is that they are males who wear makeup. They are hardly the first to do this. Bill has been wearing makeup for years, Adam has been wearing makeup for years – certainly longer than TH has been a contender in the American music scene.
I cannot even imagine why TH fans would feel threatened by another artist on the scene who wears make-up and takes liberty with his hair style… musically and stylistically, Bill and Adam are quite different.
This whole topic is just plain strange. TH is a great band and Adam Lambert has his own thing going on….
@Mdolla, does time really make a difference? The fact is that in both cases, it’s all been done before. It’s nothing new.
@Gabbi time does make difference, as you said “it’s all done before”, so it’s a matter of time that makes it interesting or not. If you come with something from years ago and reinvent the thing you’re doing something quite nice for the industry, cos you can become a representant of your own generation. If you just see another artist and starts to do the same thing at the same time, you’re just going through the easier way.
Sorry this discussion started. Actually, Bill is wearing the classic spike–not original (see link) but looks great on him.

@Mdolla, That doesn’t make it original… Just because this generation’s never seen it before in their life times, it doesn’t make it original. Originality in terms of fashion is more or less dead now.

Kay – no offense but how can’t you know that this is a marketing tactic by his management team.
His management were critized in OUT magazine for saying they wouldn’t put Lambert on the cover of the magazine with only gay people, but allowed him on the cover when they learned straight, gay right’s, activist Cyndi Lauper would be on the cover too. His management team are afraid he won’t be accepted if he is only seen as gay and are acting homo-phobic.
this isn’t the first time Lambert, who himself is proud to be gay, has been forced to try and be a sex symbol for ladies too. A recent sexy photo shoot where he poses provacatively with a woman, was followed by him making some fake smiled statement that sexy women kinda sorta like you-know, appeal to him too. It was clearly SO SET UP!
Lambert is himself and a talent that is as unique as his own style. He has such presents and personality he could perform sans makeup, in a t-shirt and jeans, and still attract big crowds.
At first all of Lamberts dropping Bill’s name, felt to many that Lambert was pushing his way into the TH fan base to try and get a few girls screaming after hm. I mean sex sells and sexy as he is, we all know we’re not gonna dream about him since we’re not his type.
Since the editor of OUT magazine opened my eyes to what his management was really up to, it now makes sense.
I really wish people would stop being suckered into posting this Lambert PR spin. Lambert is great, but I bet he himself is nauseated by Bill being used to much.
What I love about both Bill and Lambert, is they believe in being yourself. So all this “..is he the next…” is irrelevant I’m sure to both of them. They will both go down in history as great talents, individually!
This is getting really weird. What about all the other males singers who wear eyeliner and spike up their hair. Like The Cure’s singer, Placebo, Marilyn Manson.

Could be. Prior to American Idol Adam did not have a style at all similar to Bills. Heavier and sparkly makeup with over the top fitted costumes were his style. He should go back to being himself.
To me, Bill is the only one that can pull that style off. I mean , none can ever, no matter how much they want to, look like Bill Kaulitz! That’s just fact.

Just because Adam Lambert pointed out that Bill has a fabulous look does not mean he is trying to be like Bill. Bill has a striking feminine look – Adam is much more masculine.
If Adam is taking cues from anyone, it would be David Bowie. Vocally he is similar to Freddie Mercury. While Bill is a striking front man for a band, Adam is an incredible singer with an out of this world performance ability.
Other than wearing make up, these two are not similar at all.

Adam is a great talent but I’m major suspicious of his reasons for always bringing up Bill, simply because his managers are all about trying to get him a straight fan base. Like what “out” magazine recently said about his PR team. It’s not Adam it’s those in charge of his image. Anyone can dress how ever they want but given Bill looks the best with this look, why doesn’t Adam Lambert return to his dragqueen style that suited him just as well? I dunno, but I’m kinda sick of all the bring up Bill every interview. And he’s like best buds with Perez so that’s weird.

Just watched Adam Lamberty perform on the American Music Awards. All I can say is ewwww!!!!!! Not at all like Bill, can’t even compare, kinda makes me want to throw up!!!

@MeganK Thanks for posting this, I was waiting for someone else to comment on this. I just watched his performance again for laughs on youtube. It was equally scary watching it a second time. He is frightening!!!!! He screams funny when he sings. I don’t like his live singing at all !!!! Compare to Bill, I think not!!!!!

Adam has been singing and carrying this image long before Bill… I think the music industry is filled with worthless, untalented people ( cant call them artists) , so when a talented artist comes along , the world thinks he is bizarre, frightening. Look up Adam Lambert singing at his high school graduation on youtube (he was 17 or 18 yrs. old). You will see he was rather fat, blonde, boring and ordinary. No guyliner, no piercings, nothing unusual. Now look up Bill on youtube in the early years when he was around 14 or 15 years old. He already had dyed his hair black (he is normally dirty blonde), had a piercing, wore makeup and generally had mad style!!!! Not saying Lambert is copying Bill, but he is more of a manufactured artist than an original. Bill has always just been himself an original !!!!!

Adam’s always playing the system. He does things his own way, never conforms, is constantly evolving, never apologizes or makes excuses. He was the FIRST ever person to break out of the Sony/19 system.
If you ask anyone around the world what genre Britney’s music is, they will all say ‘pop’ whereas you literally can’t box Adam bc you can’t compute him/his voice/his music. That’s partly what makes him interesting.
There’s a reason the media are obsessed with him & a reason he has legends like Steven Spielberg (who called him his “hero”), Tyler, Madonna, Tim Burton, Queen, Manson, Zeppelin, Paul McCartney’s band, Rob Marshall, Muse, Rivers Cuomo, Linda Perry, Justin Hawkins…on his side. So many respect & like him + want to work with him.
Bowie made electronica dark pop music and by gender-bending and pushing the envelope, gradually imprinted himself in glamrock and rock n roll. Ziggy Stardust represents the lighter, sillier, pop side of rock. Dressing up, theatricality, OTT, a hightened campiness, a kitchniess. Even bands like Poison and and Motley Crue who got “dolled up like pretty ladies” represented a type of rock n roll.
Adam’s tried everything. He’s not scared of genres, confusing people or freaking people out.
He’s a chameleon visually & musically, has guts/thick skin/balls, improvises constantly both when performing and when talking. He plays “dress up” like Manson and Madonna; plays with sexuality like MJ, Elvis, Prince; plays with with imagery, mixing the masculine and the feminine like Bowie.

He’s fronted bands from heavy metal to acidic rock to psychedelic to art rock to the blues. & his appearance alternates with his voice. He’s constantly experimenting and evolving and alternating himself. And I mean CONSTANTLY. He’s had over 1000 looks over the years, even way before Burning Man.
There are barely any artists today keeping the SPIRIT of rock n roll alive. Newer people like Gaga and Adam are trying to bring that back – bring persona back to music. It SHOULD be fiery and rebellious, break rules and push the enevelope sometimes. Whether you’re making dance music, rock music, wtv. Music should be about deviance – and that includes pop – fcuk bubblegum.

OK, this is a stupid topic. Adam has a crash on Bill, which is a good thing. How can people turn this to something like “Adam is copying Bill”. They have a few things in common:
1. talented singer
2. Like to dress up and be beautiful
3. Are men
But they are certainly not the only TWO MEN fit these three descriptions
I get totally different feels when I see Adam – he looks more like a sexy man, and Bill looks like a sexy woman. They’re soooo different!!
In addition, Adam changes around his look. Spiky hair is just one kinds of his look. He is very famous for his Elvis look.
Like some people have clearly pointed out, Adam is 28 now, and Bill is in his young 20’s. Adam has been wearing make-up, etc for LONG LONG TIME. Adam has spikey hair before his IDOL days too.
Adam is as original as one can be.
Adam is a huge talent – he wrote many songs since his Citizen Vein band days or probably earlier…
Plus, you don’t have to be a SONG-WRITER to be a talent.
