Bill Reflects on “One Germany”

In a new video by SIC Online, Tokio Hotel is featured alongside Tom Hanks and The Scorpions with their reflections on the fall of the Berlin Wall. While Tom and The Scorpions have big stories to tell, Bill just reflects on how himself and Tom grew up in “one Germany” and only knew “one Germany”. Check out the video below.

    well yea they know only One Germany. they were like 2 months old when the wall came down.
    my oma asked me the same thing yesterday, of course i said “i just know one germany.” cuz i was born in 1995.

    by the time Bill & tom were into their piercings the Deutsche Mark was being phased out for the EURO – for the united currency of europe – i remember it since it was a BIG deal because the FEAR against the communists/communism was destroyed. i remember the Olypics 1984 there was Germany and EAST GERMAN athletes – you kids are lucky to have such a united world and we all got TOKIO HTOTEL as a result of not taking FREEDOM for granted.

    i like tom hanks reflection :) he totally made a great point! gah i love him! favorite actor right there!

    and yeaa it came down when they were so young so they dont know life before it… so they cant really reflect… oh well hes still amazing lol :D

    Scorpions: “It made such a HUGE impact in Germany! We’re so glad we could see it!”

    Bill: “Yeah… We were born… lulz”

    I dunno why they even asked them. XD I mean, how could they make a meaningful comment when a unified Germany’s all that they know?

    lol yeah..but maybe they wanted a different perspective..it seems obvious to ask the older generation, but it’s a completely different perspective when you were born JUST before the wall came down, or after it came down.

    i guess it’s all about appreciating what did happen. the lives of bill, tom, georg, gustav, and others born in their time would be completely different today if the wall hadn’t come down..we are all just incredibly lucky that germany did reunify in 1989.
