Going to Philippines Next Year?: MYX Interview

Tokio Hotel did an interview with MYX in the Philippines (the same station that aired a video message from them) over the phone from Germany, and at the end Bill said he’d like to visit the fans there, possibly at the beginning of next year. Aside from that, he thanks fans for their support, and answers some questions about Humanoid and the “Automatic” music video. Check out the video and transcript below.

VJ Chino: Oh, your video Automatic is currently at #3 here in MYX charts. Any message for your fans voting for your video?
Bill: That sounds really, really great so we wanna say “Thank You”. We’re really excited about that and we have to see our fans very soon.

VJ Chino: Who came up with the concept of the video of Automatic where you guys have like a big robot?
Bill: We shot the video in South Africa. We had the idea that we wanna have robots because we’re not really good actors.

VJ Chino: Alright. So, let’s backtrack a bit. So, what was the story behind the name “Tokio Hotel”?
Bill: We travel the world and sleep in hotels. We play concerts everywhere so that’s why we chose “Hotel”. And “Tokio” just because of the town. We wanted a town that we don’t know.

VJ Chino: Did you guys expect to be this big internationally, not just in Germany?
Bill: We never expected that we’ll have the chance to be successful in Germany. And then we became successful in some other countries. It was really unexpected.

VJ Chino: Alright, so which bands or artist do you guys look up to? Like your favorite band?
Bill: I think there’s not one band because we are all really different when it comes to our music taste. My favorite bands at the moment are the Stereophonics and Kings of Leon.

VJ Chino: And for Bill, how does it feel like a lot of people are copying your style?
Bill: It’s also kind of a compliment when other people try to copy your style. It has to be good so thank you for that.

VJ Chino: And lastly, what’s your message for your Filipino fans especially the members of the Tokio Hotel Official Philippine Fan Club?
Bill: We wanna say “Thank You” for your support so far. It’s really unexpected that we have fans over there. It’s really cool to hear that and we’re so grateful. We wanna come out there definitely. Maybe in the beginning of the next year. We’ll come out there and have the chance to meet our fans.

    Actually, tbh… I don’t really want them to come to Australia. Being selfish I guess… They can come for vacation though, I know they’ll be left alone because not too many people know them here.

    it doesnt matter if they come and are big, we dont bother celebs when their in australia, like pink was walking around bondi i was like to my mates wow thats pink…cool and let her be! actually everyone was looking at her, but no one bothered her. were pretty layed back if you think about it. :)

    yea.. if they can’t play in a country, at least visit for a holiday or something – for example BRUNEI, its the perfect place to relax, since there is a “6-star” hotel waiting for them to stay in! :D its called THE EMPIRE HOTEL AND COUNTRY CLUB…. research if you wanna check it out – SUCH an awesome place, and i love the beaches! ;D

    malaysia and singapore is a good place to play concerts.

    OMG. TH fans here in Phils are sooo excited…. except for me. Both excited and not. I have no much time left to earn for tickets and I’m not sure if my parents would let me watch it coz I’m only 13. :O

    wish we’d get the chance to shake Bill Kaulitz’ hand. and take a picture with the Kaulitz twins . XD

    yay! selfish fans who don’t want them to go over here should just shut up because it’s about the boys’ success and not the fans.

    and btw guys, don’t reprimand VJ Chino about researching about the band’s name. it’s called introducing the band to the Philippine market. ugh, so immature. i hate it that people are being smart alecks about this when they don’t know about TH’s fame in my country. :P
