“It’s a Miracle I’m Still Alive After Car Crash”: Bill

Bild.de was talking to Bill about his accident last week. He said it’s a miracle he’s still alive, and he was in shock after the crash happened. Jost told him not to do the EMA performance, but Bill insisted they not cancel it. Check out the full interview below.
Tokio Hotel rock star Bill Kaulitz has said it’s a “miracle” he is still alive following his high-speed motorway crash.
The 20-year-old totalled his Audi Q7 on the A24 autobahn in Germany last week on his way to Berlin.
Police spokesman Niels Borgmann (31) of Schwerin told BILD: “We can confirm at this time that there was an accident between an Audi and a Mercedes van. Involved in the accident were a 20 and 45 year-old man. Neither was injured.”
Bill spoke exclusively with BILD about the crash and how he survived.
The singer said: “I think about the crash everyday. I think I need some more time to process it. It’s sitting pretty deep.
“I thought I would not leave there alive. I have definitely never been that close to death! It is a miracle that I’m still alive.
“In moments like that you realise what’s really important and you learn to appreciate your life in a new way.”
What exactly happened that afternoon?Bill said: “I was alone in the car and was on the way to Berlin. I am strictly a careful driver, have never had an accident, and never drive to fast.
“All of a sudden a car switched into my lane without looking. When I swerved to avoid the car, I started skidding.”
The rocker slammed on his breaks trying to bring the Audi to a halt. Then he slammed into the guard rails.
“In a moment like that you only think about saving your life. With another car, things may have gone differently. I didn’t have a scratch on me.”
What did he do when the car came to a halt?
Bill added: “I immediately tried to get out of the car. I pushed the door open with all my strength and immediately called the police on my mobile. I was completely confused and was in shock. The police tried to calm me down over the phone.”
His relatives travelled to Berlin immediately to help calm him down.
“My brother Tom was really concerned. I kept seeing the pictures in my head all night and couldn’t sleep. Everybody supported me and tried to motivate me.”
And the singer had to put his shocking experience aside as he went on to perform the next day at the MTV Europe Music Awards in the German capital, and walked away with the award for “Best Band”.
Tokio Hotel’s producer and manager David Jost told BILD: “We actually advised Bill to cancel the performance because of the accident. But even though the crash was a huge shock for Bill, he insisted on performing.”
At the beginning of next year, Germany’s most successful rock band will be on home turf – this time not in a car, but a tour bus!
On February 26 they will give a big concert in Oberhausen and on February 28 in Hamburg.

Wowwow, very very close. Close to dying and also so close to not going to the EMAs! Insane. Glad he’s alright, and it was really brave of him to actually do the performance cause it was totally worth every second of it! Hopefully the shock is wearing off for him. People not signalling are so annoying! It’s soo dangerous. Glad he’s ok though

One of my best friends almost died in a car accident and eve nas a bystander I was scared to death when I heard of it! I can’t imagine actually going through that experience no matter how light the damage turned out to be.
Thankfully Bill walked away without a scratch (I feel sorry for the Audi though) and lets hope the shock wears off. That performance seems even more amazing now that I now how Bill felt in the hours/day leading up to it.
Thank God he is ok, to even think what it would’ve been is just crazy. I can’t believe he insisted on performing, but well. That for sure was scary, to so close to death i know what it feels like. But really that day, he was really lucky, not every accidents end up well. At least he is ok and it’s all that matters

omg. I’m soooo glad he’s okay. I don’t even want to think about him getting hurt like that or worse. I’m so happy he’s okay. Thank god he’s okay.
That had to be very scary for him. What a professional he is to continue with the EMA’s. Would hate for them to have missed such a great night.
Wonder why he was totally alone though? Thought he always had a bodyguard. Glad the stalkers or paparazzi weren’t following him. Can you imagine the chaos?

9 months ago i had a car accident too, and everyone was surprised i was alive, my car got all destroyed in the front. Yeah well it was horrible, i got out of there with no car, but no injuries, just a little pain in my neck and thats all. Thank you God.
Wow- I’m really proud of him- he did such a great job at the EMA performance I would have never known about what had happened. He’s such a strong spirit.
I’m sorry to hear about the crash- I had a really bad one about three years ago- again no one was hurt- but I totalled my car as well. Now I have a intense fear of cars. I can drive okay- I’m fairly cautious, but riding in them is the worse, if I’m paying attention to the rode. I freak out, and wish I was in control.
Hopefully Bill won’t get a phobia like me!! lol. At least the good thing about a tour bus is that he doesn’t pay attention to the driving while inside it.
The funny thing is that my mom’s only experience in Germany that she remembers as a child is getting into a car crash on the autobahn.

idk how i’d react if i found out one of my TH babies died. i freak when gustav got hurt. come to think of it, gustav been in alot of accidents this year. everyone had except georg. you guys need to be more careful. i like you guys way too much for u to risk your lives like that. it would effect me a great deal. its as if i know you guys. thats how big of an impact you had on me.

I was really confuessed beacuse for the past few days (meaning yesturday) i kept reading comments on the internet saying they hope Bill is alright and was in a car accident. So hearing that i was totally freaked out!!! But then i read he was ok and only his Audi got totaled. So happy to know he’s alright and breathing and no injures.

Thank God he’s alive and safe,i have been in 2 accidents in my life that ended with my car totalled.And the things that goes through your mind when something like that happens does make you realize how short and fragile life really is.I’m glad he went on to perform but still he really shouldn’t have considering the fact he would feel the injuries later on,can’t avoid whiplash or other nonseen injuries.I just hope that he is well and resting after such a traumatic experience.

It’s amazing that he even went to the EMA’s, looking as perfect and professional as anything, after this.
And btw guys, maybe THIS (and I’m not doubting it) was the reason why Natalie was around Bill quite a bit that night. I would be if my good friend got into an accident that very night.
